Leonard and The Lab Rats

  • 2nd Floor Gastown 300 Water Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 1B8 Canada (map)

Leonard and the Lab Rats is Vancouver’s biggest little blues and band, a compact trio with a expansive sound enabled by an idiosyncratic approach to both instrumentation and technique, and featuring three distinctive singers

Leader ‘Huggybear’ Leonard Huggard is the rare blues harmonica ace that goes beyond the clichés while still honoring the tradition. He delivers a warm, round saxophone-like timbre as well as clever and tasteful accompaniment on ukulele, melodica, and various flutes and sundries in addition to singing some carefully curated classics and his own original compositions

Dave ‘Double D' Dykhuizen is East Van's hardest working man in show biz, performing with a dizzying array of local and international acts as a polymath guitarist, and as a hard hitting blue eyed soul singer in his own right. With the Lab Rats, Dave employs a unique approach, equal parts Lenny Breau and BB King, to bring you a soulful stew like none other

Martin Eade is a longtime stalwart in Vancouver's music scene, from his beginnings in drum corps, to cabaret acts throughout the seventies and eighties, to his current in-demand status in the blues and roots music world. A sensitive, dynamic and versatile drummer, Martin also takes the mic for a few vocal numbers with the Lab Rats.
